About Aleksey Dvorzhinskiy, M.D., MSc
Dr. Aleksey Dvorzhinskiy is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of fractures in the arms, legs, pelvis, and acetabulum. He has surgical expertise in complex fractures, deformity correction, infection, as well as malunions and non-unions (poorly healed or non-healed fractures). Dr. Dvorzhinskiy prioritizes delivering individualized patient care using modernre search and surgical techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. He also strongly believes in nonoperative treatment when appropriate.
Dr. Dvorzhinskiy graduated summa cum laude from the University of Delaware where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship to pursue research related to bacterial infection. For medical school, he attended Cornell University and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his residency at Hospital for Special Surgery. During the final year of his residency, he was the Chair of the hospital’s House Staff Quality and Safety Committee, where he oversaw operational initiatives focused on improving patient safety. At this time, he also received a master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research from Cornell University. He completed a yearlong fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Harborview Medical Center – University of Washington which focused on the treatment of severe injuries, polytraumatized patients, and the complications of fractures (nonunion, malunion, and infection).
Dr. Dvorzhinskiy is passionate about improving clinical outcomes through research in the field of orthopedic trauma. He has been awarded research grants from internal funding sources within HSS and external organizations such as the Foundation for Orthopaedic Trauma. He has presented his research at numerous national and international research meetings and has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA).
