About Carlos Benitez, M.D.
Carlos L. Benitez, M.D. is a Board-Certified radiologist specializing in Musculoskeletal Imaging. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ and an Assistant Attending Radiologist at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Campus.
Dr. Benitez graduated from the University of California, San Diego, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1991. He then received two Master of Science Degrees in Mechanical Engineering Design and Biomedical Engineering at Stanford University in 1993 and 1994. Dr. Benitez then returned to UC San Diego to complete his medical degree in 1998.
Dr. Benitez completed an internal medicine internship at the University of California, Irvine, from 1998 to 1999. He completed residency training in Diagnostic Radiology from 1999 to 2003 at New York Presbyterian Hospital/ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ College of Medicine. Dr. Benitez then completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at New York University Medical Center/Hospital for Joint Diseases in 2004.
After twenty-one subsequent years of clinical practice in Roosevelt Hospital and Mount Sinai New York, Dr. Benitez joined the faculty at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ in September 2024 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology.
Dr. Benitez has interests in musculoskeletal ultrasonography, MRI and point of care radiology in sports medicine. He has been the tournament radiologist for the US Open Tennis Championships in New York since 2015 and serves as a member of the Sport Science Commission of the USTA.
