Personal Statement

Elizabeth Hecht, MD, FSAR is Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs and Faculty Development in the Department of Radiology, at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ and a proud member of the Abdominal Division. She is dedicated to optimizing patient care and fostering an environment that encourages education, research and innovation.

Biographical Info

Dr. Elizabeth Hecht attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed Internal Medicine internship at Greenwich Hospital-Yale University, a diagnostic residency at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ at New York Presbyterian Hospital and fellowship in Cardiac and Body MRI at New York University. She has working in academic medicine throughout her career and joined WCM in June 2020.

Dr. Hecht clinically specializes in body and vascular imaging with particular expertise in MRI but interprets a wide range of imaging examinations, including radiography, CT, Ultrasound and MR angiography. Her current research interests include liver and pancreatic cancer imaging and clinical translation of new MRI technology. She has mentored many trainees and junior faculty over the years in clinical and research endeavors and aims to strengthen and expand the mentoring program at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ.

Dr. Hecht is active member of many societies including International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), Radiology Society of North America, Society of Abdominal Radiology, Society of Advanced Body imaging, the American Association for Women Radiologists, American College of Radiology and the New York Roentgen Society. She served as Associate Editor for American Journal of Radiology (AJR) from 2011-2020 and served as deputy editor for Journal of Magnetic Resonance in Imaging from 2013-2020. She also reviews for many other journals including Radiology, RadioGraphics, Abdominal Radiology, Journal of the American College of Radiology and Journal of Computed Tomography. She was a board member of the Society of MR Angiography 2017-2021 and recently elected to the Board of Trustees of the ISMRM.  She is Co-Chair of the Management and International working groups of The Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) of the American College of Radiology (ACR).
