Personal Statement

As a physician-scientist who is trained in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine as well as Cellular and Molecular Biology, I have the benefit of both providing care to patients who are critically ill as well as the ability to engage in cutting-edge research that may lead to novel therapies. My clinical interest is in critical care medicine and the care of complex patients as well as their families, on whom the impact of critical illness in their loved one is profound. I consider it an honor to take part in the care of the sickest patients and deliver life-saving therapies. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, my research lab is focused on the role that impairment of specialized vessels known as lymphatics play in lung disease, and aims to uncover a link between lymphatic dysfunction and lung injury. In the process, our research will move us closer to the discovery of new therapies targeting the lymphatics that could improve the lives of patients suffering from chronic lung disease. I am dedicated to a career in academic medicine and it is a privilege to work with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and researchers at an institution that is at the forefront of patient care and scientific discovery.
