About Jayasree Nair, M.B., B.S.
As a neonatologist, I treat premature and term infants and their very unique pathologies, understanding that our ultimate aim is to ensure not just survival but intact survival with excellent neurodevelopmental outcomes. My career has taken me across two continents and various clinical settings in pediatrics and neonatology, including high-volume tertiary care centers in India. This provided me with invaluable “in the trenches” experience in neonatal care and resuscitation and shaped my interest in this subject. My current position as an academic neonatologist at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ fulfills my career goals to treat, teach as well as carry out meaningful research. Having an infant in the neonatal intensive care unit can be very stressful. I consider it a privilege to be able to not just provide medical care to the babies but also to support their families as they navigate their infant’s hospital stay.
Dr. Jayasree Nair is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology (Newborn Medicine) at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ and Director of the Regional Hospital Relations, Newborn Medicine. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and practices as Associate Attending Pediatrician at New York-PresbyterianHospital/ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical Center, as well as the NewYork-PresbyterianKomansky Children's Hospital. After medical training and pediatric residency in India, she completed her residency and neonatology fellowship at the University at Buffalo. Prior to joining ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ in 2023, Dr. Nair served as clinical associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University at Buffalo, where she also held the role of Program Director for the Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship attending Neonatologist at John R Oishei Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Nair's research interests are in neonatal resuscitation and necrotizing enterocolitis and she has received grants from the American Academy of Pediatrics and NIH-NICHD. Besides English, she is fluent in Hindi and Malayalam.
