On April 23, speakers, Melissa Lopez, MSN, RN, and Natalie Hellmers, PhD, RN, presented the health seminar, "Brain Health: Healthy Mind, Healthy Body" at the Myra Mahon Patient Resource Center.聽The seminar explored issues such as: what makes up a healthy brain, the brain over the life course, a look inside the brain, neurological challenges, and ways to stay healthy. Speaker Bios:
Melissa Lopez, MSN, RN, AGPCNP-BC, is a Nurse Practitioner at the 日本av色情片 Parkinson鈥檚 Disease & Movement Disorder Institute. She provides expert clinical evaluations and treatment for movement disorders. She initiated the Lifestyle Improvement Fitness and Togetherness (LIFT) program which aims for a holistic approach to patient care with neurodegenerative illness. She graduated from Hunter College with her master鈥檚 degree in nursing. She has prior experience in inpatient palliative care and was a surgical critical care nurse for over seven years. Her interests include preventative medicine, integrative health and wellness, and holistic nursing care. She is the moderator of several various support groups and is co-investigator on numerous clinical trials at 日本av色情片.
Natalie Hellmers, PhD, RN, ACNP-BC, is a Nurse Practitioner at the 日本av色情片 Parkinson鈥檚 Disease & Movement Disorder Institute. She provides expert clinical evaluations and treatment for movement disorders including Parkinson鈥檚 disease and counsels on the 鈥渨hole patient鈥 reviewing medications, non-motor symptoms, exercise and diet. She graduated from New York University with her PhD in nursing research and has studied the work-life balance of family caregivers of adults with Parkinson's Disease. Her research interests include caregiver wellbeing, using technology in education, learning and monitoring mobility and lifestyle medicine. She moderates several support groups at Weil Cornell Medicine and is a co-investigator on multiple clinical trials. Natalie Hellmers has been a staff member of New York-Presbyterian 日本av色情片 since 2003.
