WCM Expert Discusses Updated Prostate Cancer Screening Guidelines

The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force — an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in prevention and evidence-based based medicine — previously recommended against prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings for men, saying that the procedure posed more risks than benefits.

However, the task force — which makes recommendations about clinical preventative services like screenings, counseling services and preventative medications — ; it now encourages men to consult with their doctors and decide for themselves whether or not to test for prostate cancer 

Dr. Jim C. Hu, a urologic oncologist and the director of the Lefrak Center for Robotic Surgery at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ, recently discussed the updated recommendations with Healio, a clinical information website.
