Dr. Goldstein is a graduate of Cornell University, and he received his medical degree from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New York. He completed a one-year internship in the Dept. of Surgery at the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Dr. Goldstein received an additional two years of training in the Dept. of Physiology and Biophysics at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University as a Post-Doctoral Trainee through the United States Public Health Service. Dr. Goldstein was an Assistant Attending in Anesthesiology at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center before joining the Department of Anesthesiology at the ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical Center in 2000.

Dr. Goldstein is a Principal Investigator in the C.V. Starr Laboratory for Molecular Neuropharmacology in the Department of Anesthesiology at the ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical College, and his laboratory is primarily interested in thalamic physiology and the molecular and cellular mechanisms of anesthetic-induced unconsciousness. He has authored numerous publications and serves on various state and national committees related to the practice of anesthesiology. His clinical practice focuses on anesthesia for neurosurgery and bariatric procedures.
