About Ralph Lee Slepian, M.D.
Dr. Ralph Slepian is a Professor of Anesthesiology at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical College and an Attending Anesthesiologist with the Department of Anesthesiology at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
After graduating from Hofstra University, he received his M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his internship and residency in the department of anesthesia at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic and pediatric anesthesia at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Ralph Slepian performs anesthesia for all complicated patients. His special interests are in caring for the patient with a difficult airway/intubation as well as patients who have complicated medical co-morbidities.
Dr. Ralph Slepian is a talented teacher/mentor of medical students, residents and Fellows. He enjoys teaching residents fiberoptic intubation. In addition, he has participated in research projects involving the difficult airway. He was invited by the ASA task force for expert review and commentary on the American Society of Anesthesiology Difficult Airway Practice guidelines prior to publication.
Dr. Slepian has held many positions during his tenure at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He was the Anesthesiology Residency director for ten years. He has been the Director of Cardiac Anesthesiology and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology. Dr. Slepian was instrumental in starting the Cardiac Surgery and Cardiac Anesthesiology programs at NYP Queens and NYP Brooklyn Methodist affiliated institutions. Dr. Slepian took a Hiatus from Clinical Medicine to become the Associate Chief Medical Officer for NYP/WCM and then NYP/Columbia for 4 years.
