About Rohan Jotwani, M.D., M.B.A.
I have the immense privilege of serving patients across multiple roles. As a pain medicine specialist, my goals are to help my patients achieve their best quality of life through a multidisciplinary approach that involves the leading edge procedural interventions, medications, rehabilitation, pain psychology, alternative/complimentary approaches, and lifestyle management. As an anesthesiologist, I keep patients safe and comfortable through both routine and complex surgical procedures. Finally, as a native New Yorker, I am humbled by the opportunity to take care of the incredibly diverse and resilient people of this city. I take great pride in all my roles and look forward to providing compassionate care to all my patients.
Rohan Jotwani MD, MBA is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist, practicing clinically within both fields of anesthesiology and pain management.
Dr. Jotwani spent most of his childhood split between Seoul, South Korea and Flushing, Queens. He first became interested in science and technology while attending the renowned Bronx High School of Science, where he began researching cancer genetics at the age of fifteen. This eventually inspired him to complete his undergraduate studies in biology at Columbia University. He then went on to complete both his medical degree and his Master of Business Administration concurrently in four years at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Jotwani completed his residency in anesthesiology across three hospitals: NewYork-Presbyterian/ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical Center, Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In March 2020, he was elected to the position of chief resident during the NYC COVID-19 surge, and helped organize and lead a 90+ resident critical care task force across numerous hospitals in the city. To date, serving his hometown during this period of unprecedented crisis remains his most proud achievement.
Finally, Dr. Jotwani went on to finish his training by completing a pain medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital. There he worked with pioneers to learn advanced forms of pain management and minimally invasive treatments including injection therapies, vertebral augmentation/spacers, novel stimulation based therapies, and intrathecal pump therapy. Further, his training with world experts in palliative care, neurology, headache medicine, sports medicine, psychiatry, pediatrics and oncology allows him to provide a truly multidisciplinary approach to each person’s unique journey with chronic pain.
Dr. Jotwani’s research interests focus on tackling problems in the convergence of pain and perioperative medicine, healthcare delivery, organizational behavior and technology. His latest work involves looking at extended/virtual reality approaches to not only train the next generation of physicians, but eventually as a method to treat chronic pain. He has served as a consultant and advisor for a number of organizations from start-ups to non-profits, has published in multiple peer-reviewed scientific journals, has been featured in major news outlets (The Boston Globe and New York Times), and has won numerous awards for clinical, business and research projects.
