About Rebecca R. Ascunce, M.D.
Dr. Ascunce is a full-time faculty member at the New York-Presbyterian/ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical College and practices general cardiology and cardiovascular medicine. Her practice includes patients with coronary artery disease, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure, and those who have undergone heart surgery and interventional procedures. She has a particular interest in preventive cardiology and women’s health. In addition to seeing patients in the office, Dr. Ascunce reads and performs transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms in the hospital.
Dr. Rebecca Ascunce was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She then completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical Center. After residency, she completed a fellowship specializing in congestive heart failure and heart transplant at the University of Miami in Florida. Finally, she completed her fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at New York University Langone Medical Center.
