About Sanjay S. Patel, M.D., M.P.H, MSc
As a member of the Division of Hematopathology at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, my clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis of leukemias, lymphomas and other hematologic disorders. I work closely with colleagues in clinical hematology and oncology to ensure that our patients receive the most accurate diagnoses to best guide subsequent care. Given the nature of our work in hematopathology, there is a tremendous opportunity to improve our understanding of disease biology, identify markers for prognostication, and new avenues for therapeutic intervention. In addition to my clinical and research interests, I am also passionate about pathology education, and trainee mentorship.
Dr. Sanjay Patel is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Director of the Fellowship Program, within the Division of Hematopathology. He joined ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital after completing clinical and research training in hematopathology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His research interests span the field of hematopathology, notably focusing on the areas of hematopoiesis, NPM1-mutated acute myeloid leukemia and pre-leukemic states, and classic Hodgkin lymphoma. His work has been featured in prominent scientific journals, including Blood, Blood Advances, and the American Journal of Hematology, and been recognized by meritorious awards, including the David Y. Mason Award (European Association for Haematopathology) and Benjamin Castleman Award (United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology). He is an active member of the New York pathology community, where he currently serves as Vice President of The New York Pathological Society.
