This recently expanded program focuses on the entire spectrum of neurovascular diseases- (1) prevention and reduction of risk factors, (2) acute intervention with thrombolysis, endovascular therapy, and neurovascular surgery, (3) neurocritical care, and (4) rehabilitation. On the frontline of clinical research, the program is conducting trials of new drugs to prevent brain injury during stroke and prevent recurrent stroke. The Stroke Center maintains a skilled team of stroke neurologists, 24/7, who are available to respond to emergencies and administer thrombolytic drugs (rTPA) according to the most advanced protocols. State-of-the-art imaging is on site, including CT, MRI, MR angiography, CT perfusion/angiography, neurovascular ultrasound, and PET. The most advanced endovascular devices are used, including the MERCI (Concentric, Inc.) mechanical clot extractor, and coil and glue embolization for brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). The Division collaborates with neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, emergency medicine, and rehabilitation medicine in providing treatments for all types of neurovascular disorders, including carotid and vertebral artery stenosis, brain aneurysms and AVMs, brain hemorrhage, and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs).
What Our Patients Are Saying
When I was in the emergency room, Dr. White rapidly assessed what was wrong, and therefore saved precious time. Her intensity and accuracy saved precious time. Her kindness and the time she takes when we meet is a gift. She is smart and funny and truly listens.
Dr. Babak Navi is an exceptional physician. He has been overseeing the care of my relative for nearly five years as the result of a stroke. From the first visit, he treated my relative with compassion, kindness and excellent medical guidance. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, he immediately responded to an email, arranged a video conference and assisted me in having her admitted to the ER for conditions unrelated to the virus. Although that was a difficult decision, he unquestionably saved her life
Dr. White is both diagnostically, and compassionately superb. Her intense concentration when I was in the emergency room, her quick capacity to properly diagnose and address my problem, and her appropriate explanations when I ask, make me secure. I am treated as an individual, who she knows and respects; it feels personal. I respect her availability, her skill and her capacity to assess both my medical issues and who I am. A smart generous doctor.
