Personal Statement

My passion for the field of neonatology stems from the dual nature of the field; on the one hand, we are relied upon to manage acute illnesses and resuscitation of sick infants, while on the other hand, we get to foster the long-term growth of these resilient babies and their families over time.

Biographical Info

Victoria Blancha Eckels, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics within the division of Neonatology. She earned her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and her medical degree at Columbia University. She completed her pediatrics residency and neonatology fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at Columbia University. Her interests in neonatology include neonatal resuscitation and education through simulation.
